Contouring is all the craze at the moment.
Actually, “strobing” is. But to me, strobing sounds like “stroking” and when I think of “stroking”, I think of…. #mymindisinthegutter.
Moving swiftly back to contouring…
It’s all well and good if you have time to apply alternate contour and highlight stripes across your forehead, face, nose bridge, cheekbones, chin, etc and have time to blend it in so you end up looking like Kim Kardashian contour on fleek.
BUT…
…if you’re time poor like me, you want something quick and convenient for everyday contouring. For me, that means I want some cheekbones, a slimmer nose and some facial definition #damnmyflatasianface
Enter Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Palette. Simple palette with 2 shades – one for contour and one for highlight.
The palette comes with a brush – it’s good for applying the contour matte brown shade to the cheekbones, forehead and jawline; but not that great for blending.
There is an art to contouring but here’s what I do that is quick and simple…
Use a fluffy blush brush to contour around forehead and cheekbones and blend like crazy. That takes about 45 seconds.
Then I get a small fluffy brush and lightly apply 2 brown stripes running from my brows down to the sides of my nose. I dare not use too much in case I look like I have a dirty nose. That takes about 45 seconds.
For the highlight shade, I use my clean pinky fingertip and run the highlight down my nose bridge. And sometimes, I will use any leftover highlight under my brows to open up my eyes. That takes about 10 seconds.
I am done in 100 seconds.
It doesn’t mean that I look fabulous, mind you! But contouring does make a difference in my selfies haha!
With my Asian skin, the Medium Dark shade works best on me and gives me better definition. I took this along with me on a recent trip to Sydney when I spent time with the eBay peeps due to my new role as their Tech Tester. { You can read all about the deets here }
However, you may notice that I packed everything EXCEPT eyeshadows!!!! How could I forget that??!!! Luckily, I was able to use the Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Palette as eyeshadows. PHEW!!!BUY IT NOW
If you have any contouring tips, please share! Are you a fan of strobing…or stroking?
